Union soldier’s 3pp on color printed patriotic “Parody On When This Cruel War Is Over”, written by Barney A. Morrow who on 9/9/1864, mustered into New Hampshire 1st Heavy Artillery. He was Mustered Out on 9/11/1865. Datelined: Fort Slocum, Washington DC, October 4, 1864, in part “I enlisted for three years & got my snug $9.00 so if I go back to the fort, I have made a good thing of it. I am down to Washington about every day .. There is great political excitement here. Last night there was a very great McClellan Meeting .. a great demonstration - cannons being fired & and a large torchlight procession ... and if nothing very great turns up between now and the 8th, we will have Little Mac for our next President & and I hope to God he will be ...”
