Union soldier’s 3pp letter written to brother by Sergeant Freeman H. Bouron, Co. H, 11th New York. Datelined Muddy Branch Md., June 18, 1864, in part., “We generally pass of the lonely days playing that Game (likely baseball). ... I don’t see how you can take so much from him as you do, I could not. ... It was a damn mean trick in him ... I do not think that I will reenlist ... When I entered the service there was no big bounty being offered ... but at this time that there is the largest bounty being paid ... only get the Gov’t. bounty which is $400.00 only ...”
