BUTLER, Zebulon (1731 - 1795) American army officer who served in the French and Indian War, led settlers into the Wyoming Valley and commanded the fort there when it was attacked by hostile Indians. Butler escaped with his life, but his command was massacred. D.S. "Zeb. Butler Col", 1p. certifying “that Hartman Baldwin seved as a soldier in the 1st Connecticut Reg. in the years 1780-1781 and is now discharged from the same.”
