Wentworth, Joshua , ALS signed "Josh. Wentworth," one page both sides, 7.5 x 9.5, July 12, 1789. Business letter to Thomas Cutts regarding negotiations on behalf of a Mr. Leigh for securities for the Sloop Barstow in settlement with its owner. In part, "Mr. Dodge will require every voucher, & that he will give all the trouble in his power. I can only sayan honest man should be supported in every Instance & I would readily aid him with my best advice & money if it was in my power at this present moment, as I am assured that he is worthy of the utmost confidence of who I know you have the fullest." Wentworth concludes, "At the close of this business Mr. Hays has directions to forward me Mr. Leighs rect. for amot. of Bottomry who I shall transmit you on rect. of i~." Integral second page bears an address panel written in Wentworth's hand. In fine condition, with pencil notations under signature, expected folds and wrinkles, some scattered light toning, a bit heavier in the folds and small areas of paper loss to second page.
