Woodson, with slave hire contract at top, the letter reads: “...Dear Jackson ...you have my note for the hire of Tom & William if you are disposed to hire them I want to get John to give some attention to my place if he remains in Hanover and perhaps the 2 Boys would give him less trouble than strange hands. I can get Charles of Cousin Tom Woodson for less than I am dispered to give for William but I think that William would answer my purpose better if you agree to take my offer they shall be treated well and the bond shall be paid punctually when due...” VG.
