Autograph Letter Signed, 2p. quarto, Springfield, Limestone County, Texas, December 30, 1861, and reads in part: “...Brother is without an overseer and if he fails to get one, we will be compelled to give it up. Overseers of any kind are very scarce just now particularly of those of the right stripe. I presume you have heard ere this of the Death of Col. Terry, poor fellow, another brave man has fallen victim of the Yankee hirelings. We have just received the particulars of his fight and death, he was killed by a German, I think, his body has been brought home, what an affliction it must be to his poor wife, but there are many aching hearts besides hers...” More.
