Autograph Letter Signed, “”P.S. Mosby” of the Hanover Light Artillery and later the Ashland Light Artillery, 2p. octavo, Charles City, May 15, 1862, and reads in part: “...when we go from here they say we go to bottoms bridge in twleve miles of Richmond. I deeply sympathise with you all in your bereavements but all we can do is to submit to the will of the all wise Creator to whom we are bound and must obey...I am tired of war and warfare. My fair is three hard crackers a day and some beef or pickled pork and nothign in the world to drink...but cold water. In our retreat from Y’ktown we lost all of our cooking things and many of us all of our clothes but I thank God I lost nothing...We found the mud from two to four feet deep and could scarcely travel with our teams. It does not seem to you to be reasonable I know but it is so...I think we will whip the enemy by this fall...You may say up to last Saturday we have been fighting every day since I got to Y’ktown and wound up by fighting at Williamsburg. I have had my fill of hearing balls whistle by me and thank God I am well...” Hole at bottom fold, affects little text, else Good.
