PRICE, Sterling (1809-1867) Commanding General, C.S. Army of the West, 1862; Commanding General, C.S. Army of Missouri, 1864. He commanded a 100,000 man army in the Western Confederacy and invaded his home state of Missouri on numerous occasions in an attempt to retake it from Union forces. Autograph Endorsement Signed, "Hd. Qrs. Dist. of the Tenn. Tupelo, Aug. 7, 1862 Respectfully forwarded Sterling Price Maj. Genl." The signature of the general has been enhanced with blue ink, else VG. Framed with Carte-de-Visite of General Price in uniform. VG.
