A, 3rd Texas Cavy, Whitfields Brig, Jackson’s Division, 3p. quarto, October 25, 1863, Camped at ‘Tredwell’s Place’ Mississippi, with cover addressed to Sergt. G. W. Lewis, Col. G, 28th Mississippi Cavalry, and reads in part: “...John Irving was killed at the battle of Gettysburg also one of Tom Carter’s sons frank Tally, two of Old Webster Harris’s sons, Peter Wilson severly wounded and supposed to be dead, he was captured by the Yankees after he was wounded...Dave Ellington 1st Lieut. Co ‘G’ 45th Regt. N.C. Vol. has been caught trading with the Yankees and court martialed...” VG.
