A great war-date partly-printed Confederate transportation invoice, 1p. folio, [Richmond Arsenal, Richmond, Va.], Feb. 6, 1863 for three 12 pdr. Napoleon cannon complete with all accessories and caissons to be delivered to the Army of Northern Virginia stationed at Chesterfield Station, Va. Overall a very important document showing exactly what the Confederate military command deemed appropriate to equip each gun, reading, in part: "…3 12pdr Napoleon Guns & carriages…3 caissons…6 sponge cases…6 thumb stalls…6 lanyards…3 felling axes…3 long handle shovels…". Delivery is to be received by Robert E. Lee's Ordnance Officer Lt. Col. Biscoe G. Baldwin while the document is signed by artillery Capt. James Ker on behalf of the commander Richmond Arsenal Col. Smith Stansbury. Worthy of further research to determine whether Baldwin was replacing worn out equipment, or was he supplying a new battery. VG
