JONES, William Edmondson (1824-1864) Confederate general who was shot in the head and killed at Piedmont, Virginia, June 5, 1864. Confederate Manuscript Document Signed, "W.E. Jones Brig. Genl Comdg" 1p. oblong folio, May 18, 1864, Dublin, Virginia, being a document in the hand and signed by Capt. Isaac Shelby, and reads in part: "...immediately turn over all commissary supplies...Upon being relieved Captains Smith and Norton will report to the Capt. Comssy of the Department at Glade Springs for duty. If not mounted and private horses cannot be obtained they will call on Major E. Crutchfield for Public animals & equipment..." VG. Framed.
