Rare Confederate document, 1 p. 4to., Milieun[?], Texas, May 24, 1865, bearing an image of Jefferson Davis, Confederate flags and cotton bales at top, an honorable discharge of Pvt. John L. Camp, a Tennessean and farmer who had enlisted on Feb. 27, 1862 and was at the time of discharge serving with the 22nd Texas Cavalry ("Menick's Battalion"), boldly signed with rank by GEORGE W. MERRICK. Interestingly, the discharge notes in type that the soldier "REMAINED TRUE TO HIS COLORS TO THE LAST". Two or three tiny insect holes, light folds, else very good.
