JORDAN, Thomas (1819-1895) Confederate brigadier general. Chief of Staff to Beauregard &Bragg and Adjutant General of the army. Accompanied President Jefferson Davis to the field after the Battle of Manassas. At the Battle of Shiloh, he was very active along the line, giving orders as occasion required in the name of General Johnston, and at one time having with him and under his direction the chiefs of staff of the different corps commanders. For this action he was promoted Brigadier General. Autograph Letter Signed “Thomas Jordan” 3p. octavo, January 25, 1868, addressed to General Beauregard (who dates the item at top ‘Ansd Feby 11/68”, and reads in part: “...Since writing the foregoing my Dear General I have been quite sick...I regret to say that I was unable to find the papers you wished. I fancied they were among a small package of letters from you which I received at Memphis...” Fine.
