Autograph Letter Signed, “E.T. Austin” female civilian, 4p. octavo, October 15, 1862, with cover addressed to Zadack Austin of the 5th Battalion NY Artillery, and reads in part: “...Father had received...a letter ...from Benjamin...through the battle of the 17 and the corn field fight and came out of them both safe. He said that the men fell all around him. James Fennel is wounded in the fight. George Clink is also wounded in the head and I will tell how it was that he the brave soldier was so unlucky as to get wounded. When he saw the rebels coming he began to be sick and be[fore] they was close enough to fight he grew so hot that he had to lay down by the side of the way and a horse kick him in the head...Robert was wounded in both battles and in his left shoulder both times...” More.
