Autograph Letter Signed, "B.W. Thompson Capt. Co. H, 5 OVC", 1-1/4p. quarto, Camp 5th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, Cartersville, Georgia, September 9, 1864, addressed to Capt. Clark, Provost Marshal, and reads: "...The Prisoners which I brought in yesterday I will give you the following information regarding them. Woodall was caught at Jasper after a party of Rebels had been run out of the town he rode onto the pickets before he saw them and was takne with his arms (sharp carbine). Bell was found at his home having just returned from the rebel army on sick leave (he being wounded) the evening previous to his capture. Jas. Connor was caught near the road without arms. He being absent from the Rebels army on leave of absence awaiting his discharge (his own statement). Young Morris's father belongs to a guerilla band and I had information that he also belongs to the same band. Jackson & Arches I brought in by order of Genl. Smith. I don't kow what they are charged with..." Fine.
