Manuscript Document, 2p. folio, [1864, Georgia] and reads: "We the undersigned, do agree to form ourselves into a company of volunteer Cavalry for three (3) years unless sooner discharged and do agree to accept such bounty and pay as are prescribed in Orders regulating 'Veteran Volunteers'. Followed by a list of sixty-one (61) names many with rank and company. VG. The 8th Indiana Cavalry re-enlisted in February, 1864, they fought at Shiloh, Siege of Corinth, Kentucky in Pursuit of Bragg, Stone's River, Engaged at Winchester during movement upon Chattanooga, Chickamauga, Expedition into Tennessee, took part in Rousseau's raid into Alabama, routed the Confederates at Chehaw Station, Ala., and took part in McCook's Raid around Atlanta and made a charge which routed the Confederates and opened the way for 1200 men of McCook's command to escape. It was in Kilpatrick's Raid into Georgia, leading the charge at Lovejoy's Station and captured all the artillery and 4 battleflags. Engaged at the battle of Jonesboro, Flint River and others following the capture of Atlanta it went on the March to the Sea and to the Surrender in North Carolina.
