GRANT, Ulysses Simpson (1822-1885). 17th President of the United States, 1869-1877. Although a two-term president, Grant is best remembered for being the Union Army's decisive commander during the latter part of the Civil War. Autograph Document Signed, “U.S. Grant” 1p. oblong quarto, January 11, 1882, addressed to “Gen. P.H. Sheridan, Chicago Ill.” and reads “When may we expect you & Mrs. Sheridan...” Fine.
