HOWARD, Oliver Otis (1830-1909) Union general; engaged at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, commanded the right wing of Sherman’s Army his March to the Sea. Autograph Letter Signed, “O.O. Howard” 4-1/2”x3-1/2”, 1897, Burlington, Vermont, addressed to Miss Raub, and reads “It is odd how people place me at Brattleboro. Something I read long ago in ‘Peter Parlay,’ about that ancient Tower, but I have never stopped there overnight & think it furnished omnibusses for Old New York...” Fine.
