A nice war-date CDV from Brady's Album Gallery series, entitled: "CONFEDERATE BATTERY, YORKTOWN, with McClellan's No. 1 Battery in the distance." Shown is the interior of the empty battery with a heavy iron gun carriage an the center with a few rounds of ordnance shattered upon the ground while the photographer's assistant sits triumphantly upon the parapet. Interestingly, the ammunition box, and the gun carriage are inscribed: "Gen. D. H. Hill, Yorktown." Some wear with spotting and glue spots affecting the verso, else very good. A rare carte.
