FROLIC in 1812; commanded HORNET (1813-1815) and captured British ship PENGUIN, signed first treaty between China and U.S., in 1846; commanded the Pacifi Coast Squadron during the Mexican War. Signature and sentinment removed from a letter “I remain very respectfully your most obedient servant James Biddle.” Attached to autograph page, VG.
