Broadside, “Brigade Orders,” date line Roxbury, May 22, 1815, and signed in type “By order of Brig. Gen. H.A.S. Dearborn.” The broadside is laced with very encouraging and patriotic language, “.... the reputation of the militia has acquired immortal fame. .... there can no longer exist a doubt, that whenever called to the post of danger, the armed citizens of the United States are capable of defending thier rights and the country’s honor.” It also provides a motivating directive to the Militia officers to disciplin thier commands by by ridigidly adhering to the system presribed. “Let it be the pride of every officer to render his command respectable by exciting an esprit de corps ...” Rag paper
