Brown” 3p. quarto, Spring Hill, October 16, 1846, and reads in part: ‘...we got on two sand bars from St. Louis to Memphis just below St. Louis a hundred men, and a hundred and 11 horses got on, they were Volunteers for Mexico. The Julia was a new boat...the pilot is said to be the best on the river...I saw an old acquaintance of his [Pa’s] the other day, Capt. Brown, he said he had seen him in Virginia...” Missing portion of integral address leaf, else VG.
