MUSSOLINI, BENITO (1883-1945) Italian dictator and leader of the Fascist movement, and VICTOR EMMANUEL III (1869-1947) king of Italy (1900-1946), emperor of Ethiopia (1936-43), king of Albania (1939-43), son and successor of Humbert I. Official Government Document Signed by both, 1 page, Rome, 1935. In this document in Italian, Emmanuel authorizes Mussolini as Secretary of State to carry out an order. Signed by both at the conclusion. Mussolini had organized his fascists into a political party in 1921, and after their march on Rome in 1922 he was asked to from a cabinet. Bit by bit he took over ministries and by the late 1920's the fascist party was just about in complete control of Italy. Mussolini ran the government, and Emmanuel remained King in name only as merely a figurehead during World War II. An interesting item of Mussolini, one of the principle World War II leaders. Fine.
