Original bold penned letter in his hand with full autograph signature “WELLINGTON” April 15, 1810 while in command during the historic Peninsula Campaign in Spain against the combined French-Spanish forces of Napoleon. Written from “cea” (N.W. Spain): to Admiral Geo. Berkeley, Royal Navy, in command of British Naval Forces off the coast of Portugal and supporting Wellington’s land forces. Single page (blank reverse) with docketing only. 8 x 12: “I am desirous of sending to Cadiz, Camp Equipage for 5,000 men which the assistant Quarter Master General at Lisbon has directions to embark in such vessels as the Agent of Transports may allot…request you give directions that a vessel may be appointed to receive this Camp Equipage and may sail with it with convoy by the first favourable opportunity…” Normal aging, but exc. +. Completely authentic. Rare, historic document by the illustrious “IRON DUKE.”
