CHURCH, Frederick (1842-1924) American artist and illustrator. He was known for his paintings of birds and animals of all kinds, and he endowed them with human and humourous attributes. Autograph Letter Signed, “F.S. Church” 1p. octavo, September 1, 1909, Carnegie Hall, and reads “This is the artist I spoke to you about the other evening. He works for the American and Nell Brinkley for the Journal they are both up to date…I make the picture of a Welch Rabbit in a Hot Mince Pie for your Father…” with illustration. Inlaid, else VG.
