PROKOFIEFF, Serge (1891-1953) Russian composer. Typed Letter Signed, “Serge Prokofieff”, 1p. quarto, July 22, 1929, Chateau de la Flechere, in French, he writes regarding an article by Igor Glebov which Pincherle is publishing, and declines what is apparently a request to review the performances of works by Rossini: “In reply to your letter of the 19th instant, I am sending you under this cover the article of Igor Glebov. So as not to lose time in correspondence with Russia, should the matter be concluded, I believe that I can accept for Mr. Glebov the fee of 75 francs per printed page which you propose for the article. I have not received a letter concerning the Rossini, but this has made no great difference as I have seen almost nothing of this cycle (only a semi-dress rehearsal). I thefore can give you no answer to your inquiry and ask you to allow me to decline...” Fine. Igor Glebov was the pseudonym of Boris Asakiev, a composer in his own right, when he wrote music and dance criticism. He and Prokofieff had been conservatory classmates.
