Framed Photograph of Abraham Lincoln, 11" x 14", was produced by King V. Hostick from an original negative recorded by Alexander Hesler in 1860. The negatives discovered in 1952 by collector King V. Hostick who commissioned Springfield photographer Herbert Georg make this exacting print from Hessler's original negative. On the original mat, the following is printed: "From An Original Negative of Abraham Lincoln Owned By King V. Hostick Springfield, Illinois / Copyright 1956 King V. Hostick" and lower left, and lower right, "Photograph By Herbert Georg Studio / Springfield, Illinois". This view was one of four poses recorded on June 3, 1860, by Alexander Hesler in Springfield, Illinois, two weeks after Lincoln was nominated for President at the Republican National Convention in Chicago. They were well received by many, including Lincoln, who said of this three-quarter pose, "That looks better and expresses me better than any I have ever seen; if it pleases the people I am satisfied."
