CDV of Brevet Lieutenant Colonel Nathan S. Brinton oval vignette pose, no back mark. Brinton was paymaster for the money $2.6 million of Union Army payroll during the sinking of the Steamer Ruth on the Mississippi River near Cairo, Illinois on the night of August 4, 1863.
