A 1/6 plate ruby ambrotype of two uniformed Union soldiers, full case. The typed note affixed to inner case, "Picture taken in 1862 of Billy Wild and Luke Jobson. This was your father's nephew and his friend. They never came back from the war. Luke is kin to Jobsons who live on front street today."Both Billy and Luke enlisted on 8/13/1862, into "C" Co. Pennsylvania 118th Infantry. On 8/13/1862, they mustered into "C" Co. Pennsylvania 118th Infantry. Billy was wounded 9/30/1864 Peebles' Farm, VA (Severe wound in left leg, amputated). He died of wounds on 10/29/1864.Luke was listed as wounded 12/13/1862 Fredericksburg, VA., and captured 6/2/1864 Cold Harbor, VA. He died disease POW on 11/14/1864 at Andersonville, GA.
