Thumb tintype back-taped to a CDV size embossed mount and ID'd on the reverse as "J(ohn) F. Albrite (sic), Co. D., 33rd Ind." with revenue stamp.John F. Albright, on 12/23/1863 mustered into "B" Co. IN 70th Infantry and was transferred out on 6/8/1865 at Washington, DC. On 6/8/1865 he transferred into IN 33rd Infantry. It took part in the Atlanta campaign and at Resaca captured a fort and 4 Napoleon guns. In this campaign it lost 41 killed, 43 died of wounds and 191 were wounded. The reenlisted veterans and recruits of the 27th Ind. were consolidated with the 70th on Nov. 5, and participated with the regiment in the Georgia and Carolina campaign, resting at Raleigh. The regiment marched to Richmond and thence to Washington city, where it was mustered out June 8, 1865, the remaining recruits being transferred to the 33d regiment.
