This is an original pen/ink board 15" x 20" signed by Gene Graham and published by the Boston Globe. Center is Chinese Chairman Mao in the deep water up to his neck. Below the surface, we see that Mao is standing on his Critics and his Potential Opponents for buoyancy. On the shore, his propagandist advises a reporter, "See how easily Chairman Mao floats? See how healthy he is?" Gene Swann Graham (1924-1982) was an American journalist and educator who was associated for many years with the Nashville Tennessean and with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.[1] He was a co-winner of the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 1962. From 1966 to 1970, he was also a training consultant at The Boston Globe.
