The writer describes himself as a true blue Virginian. In small part, "But General Winder being afraid,That his militia would not stand.He sent away for to crave the aide of a few true blue Virginians"Henry H. Mowery, residence Mt Freedom, Pendleton County WV; a 21 year-old Laborer enlisted on 5/18/1861 at Franklin, WV as a Private. He deserted 6/5/1862 New Market, VA (Took musket and accoutrements). He was charged w/treason 11/6/1862 Pendleton County, WV Court (Charges dismissed). He was Killed (date not stated) at Macksville WV..
