William Karr (Bill) Graham (1920-1994), is best known as the longtime editorial cartoonist for the Arkansas Gazette. He also published a book of cartoons and had his work exhibited in the United States and abroad.Signed Political Cartoon, "Graham, Arkansas Gazette", 12" x 12" original editorial cartoon, poster board with larger cardboard mat. Caption along top of mat: "Was That Your Friend, Mister?" Question is asked by a U.S. senator of a giant "surplus" potato glaring down menacingly at the senator and a congressman as "The Brannan Plan" lies cold-cocked in the background. Along bottom of mat is inscribed "For Secretary of Agriculture Charles F. Brannan, with best regards! Bill Graham." Very good condition. Brannan was Secretary of Agriculture from 1948 to 1953. In 1949, he advocated the Brannan Plan as part of President Truman's Fair Deal program. Brannan wanted to guarantee farmers income, while letting free market forces determine the prices of commodities.
