This 11-1/2" cast iron, and braised with copper, hatchet was produced to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Washington's inauguration. Raised lettering, "Washington Inaugurated President of the US, Apr.30, 1789" and a profile of Washington in the blade, makes this a handsome item. Also are two hanging loops for presentation. Fine.
