Printed Broadsheet, Massachusetts Militia "BATTALION ORDERS," Boston, Choice Very Fine. Outstanding original Broadsheet, 1 page (back to back), measuring 18.75" x 14," titled: "The First Division Massachusetts Militia. Third Brigade. August 10th, 1818. Brigade Orders." Signed in type at the bottom right by Stephen Fairbanks, Brigade Major. The original 3rd Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, existed 1775-1840. The 3d Regt. Mass. Vol. Mil., later became known as the "Minute Men," when reactivated during the Civil War period. This excellent quality Broadsheet document is very fresh, well printed in black on light tan period wove paper and is clean in appearance. It has full broad margins and excellent military content. we located a copy in the Library of Congress. Available also through the Library of Congress web site in two forms: as facsimile page images and as full text in SGML. Printed Ephemera Collection; Portfolio 52, Folder 5. Very Rare. and appears to be far finer in quality than the Library of Congress example.
