c. 1860 Civil War Period, Partially-Printed Document, Confederate Army Soldier Commission Form for signature by “President of the Confederate States of America,” Unissued, Fine. This Confederate Army Commission form is unissued printed in light black on light tan wove period paper, 1 page, measuring 10.5” x 8” having some expected scattered age tone with a couple of marginal edge splits in the outer selvage. This historic Document is headed: “President of the Confederate States of America,” and continues, “Know ye, that reposing special trust and Confidence in the Patriotism, Valor, Fidelity, and Abilities... I do appoint him... in the Army of the Confederate States; He is therefore carefully and diligently to discharge the duty... observe and follow such Orders and Directions... This Commission to continue in force during the pleasure of the President of the Confederate for the time being...” etc. A rarely encountered Confederate Army Soldier Commission.
