Richardson, Printer, 1861, 14pp. octavo, issued to the Senate, June 11, 1861, in small part: “...illegal and unconstitutional as was the war which the Proclamation summoned one section of the coutnry to wage against the other, the causes and purposes of that war made it cheifly obnoxious to the people of Maryland and of the Slaves States of the Border. it was a war of propagandism and of sectional aggression and domination. It was a war of the North upon the South...” Much much more. Fine conditon.On February 27, President Davis wrote a letter[3] to Abraham Lincoln, President-elect of the United States, introducing the commissioners as representatives of the government of the Confederate States. The commission was not received by Lincoln.
