1893 Pair of Souvenir Ribbons from the World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago, Choice Very Fine. Wonderful pair of souvenir ribbons from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, also known as the Chicago World's Fair. This fair commemorated 400 years since the discovery of New World by Christopher Columbus in 1492. The two ribbons bear the same text and images: "1492-1892. 400th Anniversary. In Commemoration of the Discovery of American 1492." Below that an image of Columbus' landing party with text: "Landing of Columbus, Oct. 12th, 1492." And at the bottom an American Heraldic Eagle with text: "And the Star Spangled Banner, O Long May It Wave, O'er the Land of the Free, And the Home of the Brave." Each ribbon measures about 2.5" x 7.25". One is in near mint condition with no noticeable fraying or staining, bottom fringe of about 1/2" in gorgeous condition. The other shows some age toning and the bottom fringe is a bit worn, still excellent condition however. A nice pair for display! (2 items).
