The United States Presidential Election of 1860 was the nineteenth quadrennial presidential election to select the President and Vice President of the United States. The election was held on Tuesday, November 6, 1860, and won by the Republican Party, with President Abraham Lincoln and Vice President Hannibal Hamlin. The Electoral College had 303 delegates, and the electoral votes for the 4 major candidates were: Lincoln (180), John C. Breckenridge (72), John Bell (39), and Stephen A. Douglas (12).
