Early fine china cereal bowl, with attractive advertising image in center featuring trademark Quaker Oats character holding early cereal box, with a scroll “PURE” in the other hand. transfer image slightly light, still VG. c1880, (formerly Rex Stark inventory). 1877 Quaker Oats registered as the first trademark for a breakfast cereal. The trademark was registered with the U.S. Patent Office as "a figure of a man in 'Quaker garb.'"
