FRANKLIN, Benjamin (1706-1790) American Printer, Author, Inventor, Scientist, Statesman, Philanthropist, Diplomat and Signer of The Declaration of Independence. In 1776, Franklin went to France to help negotiate treaties of commerce and alliance, signed in 1778. Lionized there, he remained as plenipotentiary, won financial aid for the American Revolution, and then helped negotiate a peace treaty with Great Britain, signed in Paris in 1783.Document Signed, "B. Franklin" as President of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, 1p. 15-1/2"x13-1/2", May 23, 1787, being a land grant for Donaldson's Crossroads, and reads in small part: "...a certain tract of land called 'Donaldson' situate on the waters of Peters Creek in Washington Country...unto John McDaniel and his heirs..." With large wax seal intact. Franklin's signature is clean and bold. Fine.
