A rare, ca. 1861, patriotic Northern sheet music, titled: "The American Flag., by J. R. Drake, music by Bellini. Respectfully dedicated to Major General Winfield Scott." By the publishers Lee & Walker, Philadelphia.", 6pp. 9 7/8" x 13 1/2". A very attractive colorful lithograph of Columbia holds an American flag while standing upon the United States of America while metaphors of war, peace, arts, learning, music and justices are included with her. The lyrics, read, in part: "When Freedom from her mountain height, Un furl'd her standard to the air. She tore the a--zure robe of night, and set the stars of glory there!…".
