RUGGLES, TImothy (1711-1795) He was a delegate to the first colonial (or Stamp Act) congress of 1765, which met in New York on October 7, and was elected its president, but refused to sanction the addresses sent by that body to Great Britain, for which he was publicly censured by the general court of Massachusetts. Autograph Endorsement Signed, “Timo. Ruggles” 1p. octavo, November 29, 1748, Taunton, Massachusetts, being a sherrif’s order to seize the property of Robert Pigsley and have him brought to court to answer to Nathaniel Talbert pertaining to a debt. Fine.
