Alphonso Boone (1796-1850) was an American pioneer in what became the state of Oregon. A native of Kentucky, he was the grandson of Daniel Boone, and lived much of his life in Missouri. Autograph Letter Signed "Alphonson Boone" 1pp., October 15, 1812, writing to Irvin Hockaday. In part, "I have since my arrival here have been to Lewisburgh over the mountains. ... Troops continually passing by here from Virginia under the command of General Leftriel (sp?) they are on their march today from point Pleasant ... three days ago an express arrived from Gen. Harrison directing him to proceed ... and from there to Detroit, 1450 in number ..."
