24” x 38”, silk screen printed in red & blue “STOCK CAR RACES” with #87 car in the center, for the Shelby Cleveland County Fair, Friday Afternon, Sept 25 (1953). Rolled, fine. Noted NASCAR developer Burton Smith is listed as “Management”. Hall of Famer Buck Baker drove #87. Comes with a 2010 statement advising the he contacted Globe Printing Company (listed printer) who advised they were the printer and +/- 50 poster were were printed. Also included is a screenshot of the ESPN movie “3” of Dale Earnhart. In the background is the same poster. Burton Smith (1927-) was the founder and chairman of Speedway Motorsports, which owns and manages eight NASCAR tracks. He took the company public in 1995; his son Marcus Smith is the CEO. The nonagenarian is also the executive chairman and director of Sonic Automotive, which owns 106 car dealerships in 13 states.
