European Flintlock Holster Pistol, c1690-1730, Very Fine. This European Flintlock Holster Pistol has a 13.5", .62 cal. worked steel barrel, measures 20.5" in overall length, with a wonderful Engraved Silver "RAMPANT LION" and a Silver front sight. The lock is deeply Engraved with decorative scrolls and a LION, the top of the frizzen has been chipped. Nicely worked and Engraved Brass furniture includes a LION on the trigger guard bow, an open-work side plate featuring a LION, and a Royal Crown over a Shield escutcheon (vacant). The stock is solid with Decorative Raised Carving, having several small period repairs, stress cracks, minor dings and scratches from use. Comes with a wood ram rod and this Pistol is in its original Flintlock configuration, the touch hole is excessively large exhibiting the result of being fired literally hundreds of times. A very interesting holster pistol that has seen a lot of action yet has an impressive look.
