Framed period print, 13" x 9-1/2" (site, not removed from frame) published by N. Currier, 1847, titled "GEN'l TAYLOR AT THE BATTLE OF RESACA DE LA PALMA" Capt May Receiving his orders to Charge the Mexican Batteries, May 9, 1846. Hand-colored lithograph, General Taylor on horseback pointing his sword. Soldiers lay on the ground dead. His comrade behind him on horseback leading into the Fauna. American Soldiers behind them charging the battlefield. The Battle of Resaca de la Palma was one of the early engagements of the Mexican-American War, where the United States Army under General Zachary Taylor engaged the retreating forces of the Mexican Ejército del Norte under General Mariano Arista on May 9, 1846. The United States emerged victorious and forced the Mexicans out of Texas.
