War-date Union soldier's letter, 2 1/2pp. 8vo., on "McClellan" patriotic stationery, written by Corporal Simeon Greek, Co. H, 50th New York Engineers, Washington, D. C., Nov. 29, 1861, to "friend Smith," reading, in part: "- we have been in Virginia six weeks and I have [been] in some hard fites and I am yet alive. I was hurt at the battle of Munson's Hill. I got my arm cut vary bad and my head hurt but I am almost well. I was transferred. I am a corporal in Company H and I am on a scout most all the time - we shall go down the river the first of January 3 hundred miles to build a fort and then I shall see some of the custom. Mr. Smith please give my love to your girl and tell her to write to me. I should of written to her but I have forgotten her name - give my love to your wife. I never shall forget the kindness you all should me - Corporal Simeon Greek, Company H, 50 rigment N. Y. S. V." Overall VG.
