Print, 3" x 4-1/4," of Alsop with manuscript tribute below, mounted to larger sheet else fine. Work is probably by London's William Sherman (1169-1714), possible removed from Alsop's 1669 "Orthodox Plea." George Alsop, English author, (1636?-1673?, served as an indentured servant under Thomas Stockett, one of four brothers who arrived in Baltimore County, Maryland, 1658. Alsop appreciated the new colony, but at the end of his service to Stockett, he grew ill and returned to England where he published a significant work on colonial Maryland.
