The pin back badge, 2" x 3" starts with pin back which is engraved "79th C.A. Harris, O.V.I., 61 - 65" Charles A. Harris enlisted on 7/21/1862 as a 1st Sergeant, and mustered into "D" Co. OH 79th Infantry. A loop drops the an enamel star, "1st Brig". The chains dangle a 1-1/2" disc with the image of "Col. A. W. Doan". Azariah Wall Doane was commissioned into Field & Staff OH 79th Infantry 8/23/1862 and rose to Brig-General 3/13/1865. On the reverse of the disc are the 10 engagements, Resacca through Bentonville.
